August 2023 Table Tennis Update

The interclub competition is now into the latter part of the season.
This year has been noticeable for the number of player fill-ins due to sickness or people taking holidays. However, we have managed with the help of non-competition players who have filled in when needed.
On 9 July, the Canterbury Clubs Table Tennis Veteran and Masters Tournament was held at the Hornby Club. Hornby winners were:
Vets and Masters C Grade Doubles: Noel Ward and Alison Cook.
Vets and Masters C Grade Singles: Noel Ward.
Vets A/Res Grade Doubles: Darren Caldwell and Rob Van Nobelen (Richmond). Masters A/Res Grade Singles: Darren Caldwell.
Vets and Masters A Grade Doubles: Gregg Davey and Anny Li.
Vets A Grade Singles: Gregg Davey.
Coming up this month on 8 August, we have our annual competition night against Richmond Club for the Cockburn Cup. It will be held at the Hornby Club and we expect a hard fought night of table tennis, especially as they won the Cup last year.
New members are always welcome.
