Manager’s Report

Wednesday 2 Feb, 2022

Happy New Year, hopefully you all had a lovely break and have enjoyed the summer outside with your friends and family. As the children head off to school over the next two weeks, we are looking forward to seeing more of you back in the Club.

It’s been a busy summer here with the Chalmers Restaurant and Conferencing & Event Centre / Allsports area opening just before Christmas, enabling us to host some great concerts upstairs and lovely evenings in the restaurant. Thank you to those who have visited and who have tried the new Chalmers, it has been lovely to see so many people in.

We acknowledge there have been some teething issues in our Chalmers Restaurant and thank those that have given us constructive feedback to help improve what the Club has to offer. If we can keep this coming while you are in for lunch or dinner we can only improve.

With the recent news of another COVID variant in the community, below we outline the steps Hornby Club are taking to protect you, our staff and the public as well as meeting the Government criteria of operating at the Red Traffic Light level. I have also shared a map with opening hours and entrances for you all:

The Club has been split into four 100 person capacity areas, allowed by the separate ventilation systems and entrances. They are:

  • Legends Bar & Pavilion Café – Accessed through the Pavilion Entrance from 9 am daily
  • Chalmers Restaurant – Accessed through the reception area 5pm – 9pm Wed to Friday | 11am – 9pm Saturday and Sunday
  • Mezzanine – Operating under the Event Guidelines. Available by appointment through Tracey
  • Conferencing & Event Centre – Operating under the Event Guidelines. Available by appointment through Tracey

Reception hours

  • 12pm – 2pm Monday to Friday in the Raffles area
  • 11am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday at Main Reception

Staffing

From 7 Feb, our staff will be split into two teams

  • A Thursday, Friday, Saturday team
  • A Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday team

Masks

  • Members and guests MUST wear a mask at all times, unless seated and eating or drinking
  • Staff – Must wear a mask, from 3 February this must be a medical style (blue) or K95 (white) mask

Van

  • You must wear a mask, at all times, in the Van
  • There is a reduced capacity due to spacing requirementsOne van, per night, is running due to the 100 person cap on each area

There must be a minimum of TWO people in the Van for a Drop off to run

Section Activity

  • Once again, we are unable to host section activity on site under the Red Traffic Light level
  • I must acknowledge this is a large sacrifice by yourselves and it is greatly appreciated
  • This will be returning as soon as we return to Orange (as long as the rules don’t change)

Raffles

Under Red Traffic Light level we are unable to run raffles.

Pool Tables / Snooker Tables / Dart Boards

These are all closed under Red Traffic Light

Closure risk

We do acknowledge there is a risk of not being able to staff the Club if members and / or the staff are exposed to COVID and are required to isolate. As you can see above, we have taken precautions to protect this from happening, however there is a possibility of closure for an unknown period of time. Should this happen, we will be messaging our members through their e-mails AND through The Star, as well as through word of mouth. Should we have to close, I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

You can help us stay open in two ways:

  1. Come in and enjoy a coffee and scone, lunch, punt, flutter on the pokies, a beverage and or dinner. It would be great to see you, even in these nervous times and keep your Club the enjoyable, warm, modern, and inviting place it is.
  2. Conversely, if you are not feeling well or have just returned from a higher risk area, please do stay away for at least 48 hours until you know you are feeling better

Thank you for your understanding during these trying times. I look forward to seeing you in the Club, with your friends and family soon.
