Manager’s Report for June 2022

Thursday 2 Jun, 2022

Hello all,

A clear month’s trading with no restrictions. A first for a while and such a positive change to the atmosphere.

We had a marked lift in Chalmers Restaurants with the Sunday Buffet getting to 200 a night, so please make sure you are booking in advance to get a seat.
Functions have come back strongly with bookings for every day of the month and our new meeting rooms proving a hit as corporate training and meeting spaces. Legends Bar continues to trade well alongside Pavilion Café’s good lunch sales. It was great to host another Oyster Lunch and we are looking forward to another just after our AGM on 15 June.

We are hosting our first Clubs NZ tournament for the South Island Ladies and Open 8 Ball Pool Championships in the first week of June, then preparing for the National Darts Tournament in the first full week of July. It is great to see other sections booking in Nationals and South Island tournaments in the coming months and years as well. Congratulations to you all and for Pool and Darts, your sections volunteers have done a fantastic job to date, and we look forward to helping you host your tournaments.

BUILD
We have come in UNDER BUDGET!!!
You will see our trophy cabinets are now finished and filling up.
Early this month some noise control panels will be installed in Chalmers Restaurant
More signage will be put in place in the middle of the month
All going to plan, work on the carpark will commence towards the end of the month.
Remaining fixed-price contract work to be completed before our grand opening include a glass divide between Legends Bar and Pavilion Café,
an update to the proposed TAB area, with an additional meeting space and increased toilet capacity and an accessible toilet being added upstairs
Additionally, in our Gaming room there will be a couple of changes. A new payout machine to replace going up to the counter to collect your winnings will be in at the end of the month. We also have a couple of game updated to watch out for during the month as well.

COVID
To confirm, masks are encouraged but optional for our members, affiliates, and guests. They remain a requirement for our staff. You will see that the screens have been removed from the bars and tills.
We continue to have intermittent staffing troubles with isolation regulations, so please bear with us. This is especially relevant for our Vans, with the limited cover options available to us

Looking forward to seeing you here for Elections, AGM and our upcoming events.

Kind regards,
Time Mathews
