February 2022 Darts Update

Wednesday 2 Feb, 2022

Well the time is closing in and our South Island Darts Tournament is a mere seven weeks away. We are looking forward to hosting our first tournament in many years with over 300 entries.

The tournament is held from Wednesday through to Saturday with Mixed Pairs, Singles, Same Sex Pairs, Youth and Junior events.

Players are coming from all over the South Island and this is followed by The Darts Nationals to be held once again at Hornby in July.

The Darts section have won the Aggregate cup for the last few years and the best dressed team with our new shirts for the last two years. Kayden Milne won the youth division last year and Maata Atkins and Raewyn Edwards won the Women’s Pairs – so high hopes again in these events.

There will be 50 dart boards up for the week and we would appreciate some extra help with airport pick-ups, the raffle desk, general tidy ups and odd jobs. A thank you to the Pool section for the volunteers who have come forward so far. Just let Antony Atkins (President) or John Poole (tournament convenor) know if you can spare an hour or two.

Come along from the 3 March and support your Hornby Club members.

Thanks in advance
Noeline (Secretary)
