August 2021 Indoor Bowls Update

The last couple of months has been very busy for our members.
At the NZ Nationals, David Philpott and Bev Diamond teamed up with two players from Southland and reached the quarter finals of the Fours Championship.
In the Clubs NZ Ladies Nationals held at Taradale, Julie Dalley and Bev Diamond teamed up with two players from Pukekohe and won the Fours. A great effort.
At the Clubs NZ AGM held in Taradale Club, Bev Diamond was selected to be the Ladie’s South Island Executive member on The CNZ Indoor Bowls Assn.
The Canterbury Chartered Clubs Champ of Champ Husband and Wife competition was held at Ashburton, Jo and Greg Hill were runner up.
Mike King, David Philpott, David Bullock and Bev Diamond won the Zone final of The NZ Masters Fours and will now represent Canterbury in the final to be played in Auckland in August.
In the Canterbury Champ of Champ Fours, our team of Jo Hill, Katrina Wealleans, James Aldridge and Warren Hobbs won this event.
Our Men’s Bush Kennedy team of Mike King, Blair Woods, Greg Hill, James Aldridge and Warren Hobbs finished a close second.
Our Ladies Invitation Team of Jo Hill, Bev Diamond, Jenny Hamilton, Pat Hartland and Lillian Franks had an enjoyable tournament, finishing at the end of the field receiving the wooden spoon award.
Congratulations to our members being selected for Canterbury Rep team to play against the touring North Island Team next month, Dave Bullock, Gary Ashby, Mike King, Dave Philpott, Katrina Wealleans, Julie Dalley, Bev Diamond, Jo Hill, Jenny Hamilton and Justin Thompson. Of the 20 players selected, Hornby has 10 in the team. These players are also selected to play against South Canterbury alongside Greg Hill.
Congratulations to Vanessa Tyson selected for Canterbury against North Otago.
Our Club Pairs championship held at Avonhead School Hall, was won by Gary Ashby and Jenny Hamilton.
