April 2022 Pool Update

Monday 4 Apr, 2022

Hi guys and gals,

February was still a relatively quiet month, but we managed to get in two tournaments. Sadly, these were held on the same day. One was held up at Club Waimea, Richmond, Nelson and the other one was a Canterbury Early Bird event.

There were a few players from Hornby playing in both events. Lee Taylor managed to make it to the final of the main event, going down to one of Canterbury’s top cueists, in Adam Lilley. To make it to the final, in what I can only describe as a top field, is something that Lee should be very proud of.

The Canterbury Early Bird Singles also drew a very good field. Out of 60 players, Hornby had wight qualify for the main event.
Paul Morris ended up coming out as top
qualifier overall in all of section play.

On the Sunday we had Graham (Motor) Carr and Adam Chapman make it to the quarter finals and Barry Henderson made it to the semi-final before going out to the eventual winner, who was Simon Singleton.

In the trophy event we had newcomer Corien Simpson take out the final winning 4 – 2. This was a great achievement by Corien in her first tournament playing under the Hornby banner.

Regarding the tables being open again, this will all depend on the coming weeks and whether we change from red to orange. I will keep you all up to date via the Hornby Facebook page once we know anything.

Stay safe and look after yourself and your families

Regards,

Hornby Pool Club
